Terms of Service

Last updated 17 July 2026. Plain terms for tree adoption, donations, and use of this site.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using anbuillamtrust.org — browsing, submitting a form, applying to be a guardian, or making a donation or adoption enquiry — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site; you can still reach us directly at [email protected].

2. Who we are

Anbu Illam Trust (Anbu Illam means “house of love” in Tamil.) is [[Registered Trust — add registration number and 12A/80G status]], based in Kolathur, Chennai. We run residential care, hunger relief, and education & skills programmes, and partner on the 1 Million Palm Trees reforestation programme with Hope108 Public Welfare Trust and the 1mp.space initiative — see our Partnership page.

3. What tree adoption is — and isn't

Adopting or sponsoring a tree is a charitable donation toward planting, care, and monitoring of a real tree, paired with a village guardian who reports on it monthly. It is a gift, not a purchase of an asset you own, and not a financial investment.

Any community income figures shown for a species — sap, fruit, seed oil, or timber value at 5, 10, or 20 years — are estimates of what a tree of that kind can generate for the local guardian or village co-op over its life. That income belongs to the community that grows and tends the tree, not to the donor who sponsored it. Sponsoring a tree does not entitle you to any share of that income.

4. The revenue calculator is an estimate, not investment advice

The revenue calculator on this site models rural Tamil Nadu market estimates for what a given species can generate in community income at three horizons. These are planning estimates, not guarantees, forecasts, or financial projections for any individual donor.

Nothing on this site constitutes investment advice, and no tree adoption or donation made through this site is, or should be treated as, an investment, security, or financial product. Actual outcomes depend on weather, soil, survival rates, and market prices that are outside anyone's control. Trees can and do die; some species yield income only after many years or not at all (see each species page for its own note).

5. Donations

Donations to Anbu Illam are voluntary charitable contributions. We do not currently process card or UPI payments directly on this site — donation and adoption enquiries submitted through our forms are followed up on individually by email or bank transfer.

80G tax deduction: eligibility for an 80G deduction depends on our current registration status and validity dates, which we state plainly on our Transparency page. We do not promise a tax benefit we cannot evidence — confirm our current 80G status with us before relying on it for your own tax filing.

6. Refunds and enquiries

If a donation was made in error — duplicate submission, wrong amount, or a mistaken campaign — write to us within 30 days at [email protected] with the details, and we will review it and respond directly. Because donations currently move through direct bank transfer rather than an automated gateway, refunds are handled case by case rather than through an automatic process.

Restricted gifts — given for a named purpose, such as a specific child's school year or a village's planting drive — are spent on that purpose. If we are ever unable to use a restricted gift as intended, we will contact the donor before redirecting it.

7. Acceptable use

  • Don't submit false information in any form on this site, including guardian applications and donation enquiries.
  • Don't attempt to access, scrape, or interfere with the site or its underlying systems beyond normal browsing.
  • Don't use the site to harass, defraud, or misrepresent your relationship to the trust or the palm programme.
  • Content on this site — text, illustrations, and photography credited to us — is ours; content credited to a partner (see Partnership) belongs to them.

8. No guarantee of outcomes

We work carefully and report honestly, but we cannot guarantee any particular outcome for a person in our care, a household receiving relief, a student sponsored, or a tree planted. Trees may fail to survive despite good care; a guardian's income depends on factors beyond our control. We commit to transparent reporting on what happened, not to a promised result.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Anbu Illam Trust is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, reliance on the revenue calculator or any figures shown on it, or participation in our programmes. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or wilful misconduct.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site and our programmes evolve. The date below shows when they were last revised. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from your use of this site or our programmes is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms, or a concern about how a donation or adoption was handled: [email protected], or write to us at 22, Swamy Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai — 600099.
